We were thrilled to celebrate the graduation of our first EMPower cohort, with eight women having completed 24 months in the EMPower Program!
EMPower is a life-changing coaching program that gives women (trans and cis) and non-binary people the skills and confidence to thrive and achieve greater economic freedom. Participants are guided to set and achieve goals across life domains, including family and housing, career and education, finances, and health and wellbeing.
The graduation ceremony took place at Juno’s office in Preston on April 5th, with EMPower Coaches Tessa and Kate and Juno’s CEO, Tanya, in attendance.
It was a terrific event and a chance to reflect on the women’s achievements since commencing the program. The graduation ceremony was followed by a reflection time where the graduates shared what they were most proud of and what has changed for them.
“I feel like I can achieve anything I put my mind to. I’ve learnt to set goals and plan out what I need to do in order to achieve my goals.”
On September 15th, we proudly celebrated the graduation of another 19 participants from our second and third cohorts at CERES Community Environment Park.
EMPower is informed by evidence of how trauma can affect life outcomes and economic participation of adults and their dependent children. It has been purpose-designed to support women and their children out of cycles of poverty, family violence and homelessness by increasing stability, wellbeing, and economic self-sufficiency.
Some of the goals graduates achieved included purchasing a first home, securing stable employment in a job they enjoy, growing in confidence and trusting themselves and creating mutually respectful, strong relationships with family.
To date, participants have also increased their income on average by $200 per week, effectively lifting them out of poverty.
We are so proud of everything they have achieved and feel confident they will continue to set and achieve goals in what are now economically secure and thriving futures.
