At Juno, 2024 has been a year of progress and transformation as we continue rolling out our strategic priorities. We remain focused on building vital partnerships, highlighting the drivers and impacts of gendered poverty and maximising our impact in supporting trans women, cis women, non-binary people, and their children experiencing homelessness, family violence, and financial insecurity.
This year also marks a significant transition for Juno’s Board. After six years of dedicated service on the Juno Board, with the last two as Juno’s Chair, Kirra Johnson is stepping down, passing the baton to the capable hands of Deputy Chair Elizabeth McMahon.
Kirra’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding Juno through pivotal milestones, including the creation of the Impact Sub-Committee, which oversees advocacy and the implementation of key initiatives like the Lived Experience Project and Theory of Change. Her tenure also saw Juno achieve re-accreditation with Quality Innovation Performance (QIP), and the continuous review and updating of policies and practices to ensure we remain adaptable, compliant, and forward-looking.
We also extend thanks to outgoing board members, Rachel Pallenberg and former Treasurer Geeta Kulkarni, recognising their outstanding contributions and insights. Holly Bowman has stepped into the Treasurers role, and we know we are in sure and capable hands, with the ongoing support of board members, Cerrita Jonczyk, Jo Van Twest Farmer, Judit Brown, Laura McConnell Conti, and Saha Eden; Deputy Chair Elizabeth McMahon, and Secretary Nayanisha Samarakoon.
Incoming Chair Elizabeth McMahon brings a wealth of experience and deep dedication to Juno’s mission. Elizabeth is a human resources executive with 25 years of experience across the private, public, and non-for-profit sectors. She is currently Partner at SHK Asia Pacific. Elizabeth is passionate about helping organisations create positive and safe workplaces to attract and retain people from diverse backgrounds.
Elizabeth’s commitment to fostering diverse, inclusive and supportive environments aligns closely with Juno’s values and vision for the future. Her expertise in human resources will be invaluable as Juno enters this new chapter.
As we bid farewell to Kirra, we extend our heartfelt thanks for her remarkable leadership, vision, and dedication over the past six years. Under Elizabeth’s lead, we look forward to continuing to achieve our mission of partnering with women and gender diverse people to support their safety, increase their independence and enable them to thrive.
Warm regards,
Tanya Corrie
